Laying and maintaining wooden floors

In addition to our wooden floors and collections, we offer a range of materials and products to install and properly maintain the floors. This includes subfloors, adhesives, edge finishing and similar products. Because laying wooden floors is a profession in itself. And proper maintenance makes the floor last for years. An overview of our products can be found below.

Deviating products

Thanks to our international network, we are also able to offer non-standard products. If you have a request for a specific product that is not listed on our website or in the price list, please contact us. If a requested product is not available, we always investigate the possibilities for an alternative product that is as close as possible to the requested one.

Maintenance & maintenance supplies

Like anything that is used intensively, a wooden floor also requires maintenance to remain in good condition. Flamingo Parket has a wide range of products to maintain the floors correctly and in a simple and effective manner.

It is extremely important that only the prescribed maintenance products are used. Too often, completely unsuitable maintenance products are purchased by consumers (online), with all the consequences that entails. These products often have the opposite effect, damaging the existing protective layer and making the floor much too poor. Therefore, always choose a product that is prescribed for a specific finish.

Our four collections: Raftwood, Planed Oak, Patina Pure and Floorish are easy to maintain with Floorservice products. The range of maintenance products is clear and the application is simple:

  • For regular cleaning there is the Floorservice Parquet Cleaner. Mix this with warm water (100 to 200ml for 10 liters of water) and clean the floor with a well-wrung cloth or mop. Add less water to heavily contaminated surfaces.
  • Maintenance for the four Flamingo Collections is done using maintenance oil. The regular maintenance oil for natural and dark colours, the Pura maintenance oil for the maintenance of light natural shades and the white maintenance oil for white tones and light gray tones, such as our smoked white floors.

It is also possible to use the white maintenance oil for, for example, the Raftwood RW-P01. In addition to the oil finish, this collection color is smoked and by using the white maintenance oil the floor will remain somewhat lighter. If your customer wants the floor to become a bit darker, you recommend regular maintenance oil.

Nobody wants to get down on their knees to maintain the floor anymore, which is why we recommend using the Floorboy XL-300 for the maintenance of oiled floors. By using this very user-friendly machine in combination with the maintenance oil, you are guaranteed an even end result.

For lacquered floors (finish, e.g. Floorservice Nature Protect or hydrolacquer) you can use the same parquet cleaner as is recommended for oil floors. The maintenance product is different! We recommend Nature Care for Nature Protect and Parquet Polish Mat for hydrolacquers.

In addition to our four collections, we can also finish your floors with products from Royl, Loba and Monocoat, among others. We always recommend that you provide your customers with the prescribed maintenance instructions.

underlays

We have included the most common subfloors in our range. Sometimes there are specific requirements for a subfloor. We can order those special subfloors for you on commission. The delivery time is usually a few days. We have chipboard in both large plates and rolls in stock in 8 and 12 mm. Just like 7 and 9 mm sound-reducing subfloors and 2 mm alu-plus and 3 mm rubber subfloors.

As a solid subfloor that is usually used with Tapis in combination with underfloor heating, we have included the 8 mm mosaic subfloor in the program.

FIDBOX

The Fidbox is indispensable for a wooden floor in combination with underfloor heating or floor cooling. It is a small flat box that you mount under the floor. It measures temperature and humidity. You will receive this valuable information via the app, which you can easily install on a telephone. When deviations occur, the Fidbox will warn you, so that you can intervene in time and prevent damage. It is rather underestimated in practice, but we strongly recommend that you always use a FidBox with a wooden floor in combination with underfloor heating or floor cooling.

Prime

Most floors need to be primed first. This may have to do with the adhesion to the substrate and, for example, for reinforcing damaged or sandy substrates. Or to shut off capillary rising damp and increased residual humidity. Get advice on the maximum values.

Flamingo works with Wakol and Frencken products for this.

Glue

In our range you will find several types of glue such as MS glue and PU glue and also seam glue. In addition to our own Flamingo label, we also have a number of WAKOL adhesives in the program. Do you have questions about which adhesive is best suited for a particular application? Please contact our internal sales department.

Abrasive materials and pads

In the range of abrasive materials and pads you will find all the products you need to sand, polish or oil a floor. Sanding discs, sanding belts, grinding nets and pads are available in various grits. Pads are available in both 12” and 16” and always in stock.

Oil and lacquer

In our standard program we mainly work with the products of Floorservice (Overmat) and Royl (Rigo). Other brands are almost always available on request. Floorservice and Royl's products are solvent-free and based on vegetable oils and waxes. The lacquer that we have in our range is an ultra-matt variant. At Floorservice this is the Nature protect and at Rigo the Skylt.

Edge finishing (skirting)

In the past, solid skirting boards and transfer skirting boards were used, nowadays a (white) MDF skirting board is almost exclusively used for the edge finish. We have these in stock as standard in 15 mm thick and 70, 90 and 120 mm high in the modern variant with a bevelled top. Solid plinth and cover strips complete the range.

Add sealant

Joint sealant is used to close nail holes in Tapis floors. But also to close cracks in both new and renovation floors. The joint sealant is mixed with sanding dust from usually the last sanding.

Schedules

We have convector pit grates for a beautiful finish of the floor at a convector pit. These are mainly made of oak wood. We can deliver the gratings exactly to size. And you can choose from different colors, intermediate buses and finishes. Underfloor heating is used in almost all new buildings, but radiators are still common in the renovation market. And convector pits are also installed. During a renovation, the schedule is often also renewed.
