Our history

Our rich history starts more than 50 years ago, with founder Drs. JGM Versteeg starts laying parquet floors. Not much later, his wife, Mrs. Wil Versteeg, runs their own flooring wholesaler. Son Lars adds another production company. And now the next generations are working hard in their energy-neutral building in Barneveld.

Flamingo Parket has been around since 1967 as Dr. JGM Versteeg starts laying wooden floors.

It is 1974 when Mr. Versteeg's wife, Mrs. Wil Versteeg, sets up the wholesale business. In addition to taking care of their two young children, the household - mind you, we are talking about 1974 - and her busy husband, she manages to set up a thriving business with a good reputation that is even gaining ground across the border.

Son Lars, infected by the drive and enthusiasm of his parents, starts in 1985 with the production of wooden floors from an old building on the Handelsweg in Barneveld.

In the 80s and early 90's it was the Tapis strips (6 and 8 mm thick) and the solid floors of 22 mm that he produced. A few years later, Flamingo Parket introduced the multi-layer parquet floors, better known to us as the Twin-Plank.

Ten years after starting its own production in 1995 Due to the increasing demand for our products, the Handelsweg is quickly becoming too small. That year, Flamingo Parket took over a parquet factory in Northern Germany. From that moment on, the entire production process takes place there. The finishing of the floors such as aging, staining, smoking and lacquering is still done in Barneveld.

Short lines, high quality, environmentally friendly production and passion for wood result in unparalleled beautiful, durable and affordable wooden floors at Flamingo Parket.

On the day that Mrs. Versteeg celebrates her 65th birthday, she hands over her work at the wholesaler to Lars.

In the year 2017 the third Versteeg generation enters the family business. Tim, son of Lars and Susanne, grandson of Jon and Wil Versteeg, started as a parquet installer in order to get to know all facets of the company. He is now, together with Lars, involved in the purchasing and sales process.

The factory in Germany will be sold in 2022. Given the condition of the old building and the desire to leave as low a footprint as possible, construction of a new, energy-neutral building started in 2021. Flamingo Parket takes over 2022 moved into the new building at Grote Bosweg 15 in Barneveld.

The close cooperation with a number of renowned manufacturers gives Flamingo Parket the opportunity to deliver floors of excellent quality at very attractive prices.
